The witch from oz

'the witch from oz'
closeups
This week's Creative Tuesdays' theme is 'little critters.'  This is base on The wizard of oz characters - Dorothy, toto, the scarecrow, the tin woodman & the cowardly lion. Maybe it's a bit odd to turn the three characters into little creatures? I don't know. I like them.

  1. That's actually a brilliant idea, Lissa. I would have never thought to miniaturize something to make it a little critter but they are indeed now. And cute too! I love the whole concept and execution too. Brlliant. thank you! So, waht is the glowing thing in the pocket? A wand about to "go off" as it were? Really imaginative.

And, yes, it;s still Monday night here so, yes, I am blown away that you got yours done this early--the night before! Wow. You were on a roll, I suppose! Maybe you shrunk time as well? :)

    1. yes, the glowing stick is a wand, every witch should have one, don't you think?

I am also pleased that I finished this early but you've mentioned there is no wind? well, I guess I forgot about that but maybe I'll do a revised and add wind.

thanks for your inputs as always, have a lovely day.

    2. I think the lack of wind makes it very mysterious, deliberate or not, so keep as is! :)

  2. BTW, looking at this again in more detail, I really like the braid or headband piece--love the way it sparkles. And love how the girl seems to be almost floating as there is no wind one can see. Maybe the whole thing is a dream..as alluded to in Oz? hmm....

  7. Nice work :-) Have you by chance read "Wicked" the prequel to the well known Oz story? We read it for Book Club a few years back. It was very interesting.

    1. I have tried to read 'wicked' but I didn't like it and didn't quite finish. to be honest, the wizard of oz has never been one of my favorite tales, I've always preferred 'beatuy and the beast.'

thanks for your visit, have a lovely day.

What an amazing imagination you have! I love this. I can see a children's story with the little creatures. So cute and such a beautiful painting.

  11. Lissa, you have such a wonderful creative mind and such an artist as well. So clever to change the size of the characters and have them flying with little toto in a basket as well. I so look forward to seeing what you come up with each time.

  12. I am so glad that i came back for a second look.
this really is a wonderful piece. I love the eyes and expressions on each of the little critters. The sparkles in her hair and outfit, the wand detail and the basket. Art really is enjoyed the more we look at it and take it to heart.

    1. when I look at this piece again, I like what I saw too, though I did added even more sparkle to her hair but took it away as it was way too much. & beside, what is magice without some sparkle?

thanks for stopping by again, have a lovely day.

  13. I love this, cute and humorous and whimsical! This is a great take on the Oz/witches theme, and my favorite is Toto's sweet face poking from out of the wicker basket. Great job :-D
